F\u00f8r hjernen l\u00e6ser tekst eller registrerer detaljer, ser \u00f8jet en silhuet. En hylde med 30 lignende bokse ser ud som en v\u00e6g af form og farve \u2014 og det vigtigste er, at din boks ikke <em>smelter ind i den v\u00e6g<\/em>. Er den r\u00f8dbrun i en hylde fuld af r\u00f8dbrun? S\u00e5 skal der v\u00e6re en markant farvekontrast ved siden af. Er den firkantet, n\u00e5r alle andre er runde? Det hj\u00e6lper. Form sl\u00e5r farve. Farve sl\u00e5r logo. Logo sl\u00e5r sm\u00e5t tekst.<\/p>\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Derefter kommer <em>det enkelte ord eller symbol<\/em>. Et logo. Et billede af produktet. En pris. Et segl eller en award. Hjernen s\u00f8ger efter <em>et ankerpunkt<\/em> \u2014 noget der siger: &#8220;Dette er for mennesker som mig.&#8221; Det ankerpunkt skal v\u00e6re \u00f8jeblikkeligt genkendeligt. Bruger du mere end halvandet sekund p\u00e5 at finde det, mister du forbrugeren.<\/p>\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Til sidst kommer <em>handlingen<\/em>. Hvis de to f\u00f8rste elementer har gjort deres arbejde, n\u00e5r hjernen til en beslutning: &#8220;Jeg tager den ned for at l\u00e6se den ordentligt.&#8221; Eller: &#8220;Jeg tager den ned, fordi det ligner noget jeg kender.&#8221; Eller slet ikke \u2014 og tiden er brugt.<\/p>\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Det betyder flere ting i praksis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hvis du designer emballage til detailhandlen, designer du ikke for l\u00e6sning. Du designer for <em>genkendelse under tidspress<\/em>. Det er en helt anden disciplin end et tidsskrift eller en hjemmeside. En god hyldeemballage tager beslutninger, du aldrig ville tage, n\u00e5r du designer til \u00e5ben tid. Den er dristig, hvor du gerne ville v\u00e6re nuanceret. Den er enkel, hvor du gerne ville v\u00e6re informativ. Den gentager sit vigtigste budskab \u2014 ikke fordi forbrugeren er dum, men fordi hun ikke lytter.<\/p>\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Placering p\u00e5 hylden betyder mere, end de fleste antager. Et produkt p\u00e5 \u00f8jenh\u00f8jde f\u00e5r fem gange mere opm\u00e6rksomhed end det samme produkt p\u00e5 lav hyld. Et produkt helt til venstre p\u00e5 en hylder\u00e6kke kolliderer visuelt med kanten og ses d\u00e5rligt. Helt til h\u00f8jre \u2014 samme problem. Har du brugt samme emballage i fem \u00e5r, og kender forbrugeren den, glimrer den p\u00e5 hylden, fordi hun <em>genkender silhuetten \u00f8jeblikkeligt<\/em>. Redesigner du den for at v\u00e6re &#8220;moderne&#8221;, skal den nye version v\u00e6re <em>s\u00e5 meget mere i\u00f8jnefaldende<\/em>, at den vinder tilbage, hvad genkendelsen kostede. Det lykkes sj\u00e6ldent. Luksuskategorier skifter s\u00e6sondesign, fordi det <em>er<\/em> deres model. Dagligvarer skifter typisk for sj\u00e6ldent eller for tit.<\/p>\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lav kontrast mellem tekst og baggrund koster millioner. Et produkt med hvid tekst p\u00e5 lysegul baggrund bliver usynligt p\u00e5 tre meters afstand \u2014 og s\u00e5 er de tre sekunder pludselig tre millisekunder, fordi \u00f8jet springer videre til n\u00e6ste boks. Det er ikke fint. Det er ikke elegant. Det er bare d\u00e5rligt.<\/p>\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00d8konomi under overfladen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Emballagedesign handler tilsyneladende om \u00e6stetik. Under overfladen handler det om \u00f8konomi \u2014 om hvor meget af dit budget der bruges p\u00e5 at v\u00e6re <em>synlig<\/em> kontra at blive <em>k\u00f8bt<\/em>. De fleste brands bruger 30 procent af emballagebudgettet p\u00e5 det, der ses i de tre sekunder, og 70 procent p\u00e5 det, der ses <em>efter<\/em> k\u00f8bet. Det er ofte helt bagl\u00e6ns.<\/p>\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der er en grund til, at Red Bull har brugt omtrent samme design siden 1987, og at Coca-Cola Classic n\u00e6sten ikke skifter \u2014 men samme princip forklarer, hvorfor en nylanceret mellemmarkeds-\u00f8kovare <em>skal<\/em> skille sig ud for at blive bem\u00e6rket. Din strategi afh\u00e6nger af din kategori, dit budgetrum og produktets livscyklus.<\/p>\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Men princippet forbliver: du har tre sekunder til at vinde forbrugeren. Ikke flere.
